For our eyes & ears

"Along the years, I have discovered some new, or renewed, sources of interests. Among the things I am now aware of, are that being skilled with a pen, a brush, a pencil, a guitar or any other instrument... is just the prolongation of ones mind. Here are some of my center of interests..."

France-Danemark - Ice-Hockey

Les Bleus have once again faced Denmark, the host country of the World Cup, in Grenoble on 07 April 2018 to win 4-0.
-> "On one side I was alongside the Danes ... but I must admit that I was quite happy with the victory of France".

Franz Ferdinand - Rock

These Scots reconcile rock with the dance floor but also with girls who love their post-punk 'very funky' music...
-> "Nice performance with good old pieces and a very entertaining Ferdinand at it."

Acting - Theater

In an old prison cell, Robert, an actor convicted of murder, joins Gepetto, a shabby little accountant and Horace, a silent and insomniac killer. Gepetto has always dreamed of being an actor. But here it is, it has no quality to be. Robert, tempted by a crazy bet and wanting to kill time, decides to make him a great actor.

-> "A quite well played piece of theater with first hand actors and a tight script"

110% Conference - Coaching

For the last 15 years the international coach, author and entrepreneur Franck Nicolas has been recognized as an authority in the psychology of leadership, negotiation, and human performance.
-> "Quite disappointed by this "all around" mass (5.000 people!) coaching mixing private and business goals... unfocused and at way time too loud and american."

France vs New-Zealand - Rugby

The XV of France, already beaten (18-38) by the All Blacks on Saturday, Nov 11th, was again bowed to New Zealand, but by a short head (23-28), Tuesday, Nov 14th, 2018, in Lyon in a meeting between Reserve teams that had no test-match value..
-> "A bit late, as for many people, I missed the Haka for which I was so eager. France lost against the All Blacks having not set much of a foot in the zealanders' yards for most of the 2nd half. "

Festival Berlioz - Ferenc Vizi, piano

The Berlioz Festival national and international fame makes it one of the great events of the season of classical music festivals. It is also one of the few symphonic music festivals in France which takes place every summer at the end of August in La Côte-Saint-André, the birthplace of the romantic composer Hector Berlioz.

-> ""A bit expensive, annoying and without a good accoustic"

Youn Sun Nah -
- Jazz à Vienne

A disturbing South Korean vocalist, Youn Sun Nah has been exploring for 20 years the arcana of an unusual swing. She gives herself the freedom to play on several stamps and as many registers: from onomatopoeia in unison with an instrument, to the most diapha-nous pianissimos.
-> "What a surprising lady... so charming when speaking, so voiceful when singing"

Hip Hop Symphonique
- Jazz à Vienne

The concept: imagine a dialogue between "the scansion of words and the symphonic universe". This concert brought together about 80 participants: the Orchester National de Lyon, The Ice Kream led by Issam Krimi and three figures from the French rap scene: MC Solaar, Arsenik and Bigflo & Oli.

-> "Surprising performance, rich in variety but too short for MC Solaar"

Salut Salon - Classical Music

The Salut Salon quartet was created in Hamburg in 2000 by violinists Angelika Bachmann and Iris Siegfried. The four young women, virtuoso, funny and passionate, have been traveling the world for more than 10 years already. Their formidable musical mastery combined with an extraordinary sense of humor has already conquered the German public but also, Korea, Japan, India, Brazil and South America ...
-> "Performance mixed with a nice dose of humour"

Messmer - Hypnosis

For decades, Mess-mer fascinates peo-ple by plunging them into the depths of their subconscious. The Fascinator provides his subjects with unusual experien-ces using energy transfer, hypnosis, magnetism and a few Other techniques of its own.
-> "Great show, a bit disturbing though".

Apocalyptica - Heavy Metal

Since they formed in 1993, Finnish orchestral rock band Apocalyptica has released six studio albums featuring numerous cello-based instrumentals along with some vocal-based songs.
-> "Fan ever since they revisited Metallica's albums, I was really eager to see them perform live. Not disappointed at all. Impressive"

Francis Cabrel - Folk

Francis Cabrel became known in 1977 with "petite Marie". From albums to albums, he has opened his inspiration to the world, forcefully denoun-cing racism, attacks on human dignity, without falling into didacticism. He will emerge as one of the references of the French song.

-> "Great voice, lyrics, music and light choreography, with a set of classics and  latest songs. Nice evening".

Bharati 2 - Musicals

The starting point of the trip? The character of Neelam's daughter Bharati. Born in France, where his mother now lives in exile and leads a dance hall, The young and attractive girl knows nothing of his home country, with the exception of his popular movie actors. The show begins with his arrival on his homeland and follows its colorful journey to make her a star of the "illusions" industry
-> "Great music and choreography, with a difficult to follow story  (when seated afar), but enchanting as everything can be in India."

Ibrahim Maalouf - Jazz

Ibrahim Maalouf offered a sold out show that will remain etched in the memories of his biggest fans. Trumpeter with a communicative power, he played nearly four hours on stage, blending Eastern sonorities, groove, electro and lyrics with stamina. His show, a great musical journey, won the public.
""Dextirity & Jazz melt in one performer"

Stephan Eicher - Pop

The Swiss singer offers an exciting show, Und Die Automaten, accompanied by instruments played without musicians. In fact, it's an illusionist that animates all noise and light scenography by directing a whole orchestra of automated musicians formed by a xylophone, a set of bells, a battery, a light organ, while singing and accompanying himself on guitar.
-> "I remain a fan of Stephan Eicher who wields derision, multilingualism and musical dexterity with profondeur"

Yasmine Hamdan - Groove

Yasmine Hamdan is a Lebanese singer, songwriter and actress, now based in Paris. She became known with Soapkills, the duo she founded with Zeid Hamdan while she was still living in Beirut. The first album released by Soapkills was Bater (1999). Soapkills was one of the very first independent electronic bands in the Middle East, and its innovative approach exerted a lasting influence. To this day, Yasmine Hamdan is considered an icon of underground music across the Arab world.
-> "I first came accross Soapkills while in Syria and have ever since been eager to see her live in concert"

M.C. Escher - Arts

Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972) is one of the world's most famous graphic artist. His art is enjoyed by millions of people all over the world, as can be seen on the many web sites on the internet. He is most famous for his so-called impossible structures, such as Ascending and Descending, Relativity, his Transformation Prints, such as Metamorphosis I, Metamorphosis II and Metamorphosis III, Sky & Water I or Reptiles.
"when mathematics reach art"

William Sheller - Jazz

William Sheller is one of those singers I have had to evolute, music wise. Indeed his unique voice, jazzy sounds & poetic texts now resonate much better , than when I was a kid.

La Traviata - Opera

Opera had always sounded a bit "out of the ordinary" for me... and still is.
I kind of wonder how people can combine such things as music, songs, and play in such a way, and still follow their thoughts to make it "accessible" for the public.

Stephan Eicher - Pop

I have been fascinated for some years by Stephan Eicher, enjoying his crispy voice, his accent and 3-tongued lyrics.
Seeing him on stage, in a so-called "literary-concert", with Philippe Djan on his side, was quite pleasant and cosy to be witnessing.

Richard Galliano - Music

One day on my way to work, I just stumbled upon a large board promoting the soon to come Richard Galliano concert, with something like "tango in progress" as a catchy title. As my former partner was keen on accordion and I kind of looked forward pleasing her and seeing some less "old fashioned" kind of accordion performance, I went for it.

Arno - Pop Rock

I have heard Arno being interviewed on the radio more than once, and kind of made my own image about who he may be, months before I could actually hear him singing. Actually what I could feel was quite intriguing and made me want to hear more from/about him.

Norah Jones  - Jazz Rock

It has been a long time since I wanted to see Norah Jones, the American singer-songwriter, pianist, keyboardist and guitarist. Indeed having downloaded previous live performance of her, I was quite eager to see her live, and assess if her attitude, a bit on the distant side, was as foreseen.

Bénabar - Folk

The new irreverent Brassens, for those who know who he was. As we are of the same age, and of the same humor, plenty of his texts and references, just ring some bells and remind me of my early years.

Metallica - Heavy Metal

It all started in 1983 when I first heard Metallica's 3rd album at that time, "Master of Puppets". Heavy it was, yet it gave me this unique feeling that it was something that will stick with me, along the years, whatever/whoever I become. True until that day, Metallica having reinvented themselves along the years... and so am I.

D-A-D - Rock

Among the only 2 bands who make a good living in Denmark with their production, D-A-D is the enfant terrible of the Danish scene. The Binzer bros, one with long, one with short haircuts, have been leading the band even since 1984... and still show so much enthusiasm that you may believe they started recently...

TV2 - Folk

For me even since I came to Denmark, TV2 has represented some kind of Danishness, where folk music, sounds, melodies, texts, translated what Denmark is all about. When you know that they have been touring Denmark, and now abroad, since 1981... singing in Danish only... and that they are only the 2nd band making a good living here in Denmark... this forces your (mine) respect.

Nephew - Rock

-> I was living back in France when I discovered the Aarhusian group Nephew. Having a young Rock band playing good stuff... in Danish... just made me feel like some choose their art...

The Police - Rock

For me The Police, is just one of those bands whom when I hear them playing, immediately reminds me of my teenage years where placing their LP on the player, closing the door, and turning on the sound was just the ultimate experience.

Marcel Gotlib - Cartoon

Marcel Gottlieb or Gotlib is a French cartoonist, known as the creator of Gai-Luron, Superdupont and Rubrique-à-Brac. Gotlib's first series were made in a very humoristic tone. Each story consisted of 2 to 4 strips drawn in white and black. Rubrique-à-Brac and Les Dingodossiers consisted of didactic dossiers of short unrelated strips, drawn in black and white. They revisited an extremely wide range of subjects and dealt with stereotypes and clichés in a caricatural way. Gotlib used caricature and parodies to depict the everyday life, and greets it with extreme derision.

Nicolas Canteloup - Comic

I must admit that his performance is quite a good one. I hear him often on the radio and of course the spectacle was different, less directly connected to the news, yet quite entertaining and with a good laugh. He succeeded in changing voice and mimics and have us get through the characters as we see them in the news. Nice piece of performance.

 Arturo Brachetti - standup

What a show!! Ideally situated near the front rows, in Roma, so to have it in the original language, we enjoyed this incredible show very much.
Changes of clothes followed by small stories, completed with shadow plays and an unmistakable gift for challenging the audience with new performances, the world fastest quick-change artist left us with a smile on our lips and a feel good.
A wonderful evening.
