Les consolations de la philosophie - Alain de Botton
- In french. First published in 2003.
Alain de Botton had selected 6 philosophers, dividing his book in 6 chapters, one for each, and tells us how to deal with the sadness incurred by our life as human beings, with the help of these great men. Through the biography of every one of them, while precisely referring to their literature, Alain de Botton uses humor, irony yet quite some good sense in learning how to live a better life.
-> A long time fan of Alain de Botton, I did once more enjoy getting to understand some basic ideas and principles brought to us by those well known philosophers thanks to de Botton "easy to understand, yet down to earth tone and humor". However, I kind of missed some continuation between the book's chapters, making it more a kind of put together leaflet, than a single book. But I still enjoyed it pretty much.
