Hellfest : un pèlerinage pour metalheads - Corentin Charbonnier
- In French. First published in 2016.
The work presented here shows, through the study of Hellfest, an annual festival of metal music held in Clisson in Loire-Atlantique, that this music is a real culture. To understand Hellfest's current place for the metal community, it is necessary to know how it has evolved since its creation, to question the relationships it promotes between festival-goers, festival-goers and artists, and to question its role as a place where a community without geographical anchorage can gather for a given time.
-> Interesting book, tracingback the history of the festival, yet a bit short on its academic base when it comes to this being the topic of a thesis. Yet for a heavy metal fan, as I am, it gives some nice feeling of "normalty".
